When Job Searching Feels Like Survival
Fake job listings flooding websites don’t just mislead — they demoralize. Instead of real opportunities, you’re forced to wade through fiction, wasting time and hope. Why, after nine years in programming, must I choose between relocation and humiliating working conditions? Abandon growth, give up my skills, just to blow into a breathalyzer every shift, hand over my laptop for inspection, sit idle or go home unpaid, lose bonuses, and ride to work packed like sardines?
Minsk remains the only city where you can earn over $1200 — enough to build a business, a home for your family and animals. The search for a dream job continues, despite the absurdity that began in 2020: sanctions, war, artificial intelligence. The world evolves, yet decent working conditions remain out of reach.
Why is animal rescue left to volunteers, while the root of the problem lies in society’s irresponsibility? If Belarusians didn’t abandon animals, volunteers could develop their projects freely. People wouldn’t have to donate to a cause that may be pointless — what’s the use of saving animals if new ones are discarded tomorrow?
I hope one day there will be a shelter without suffering animals — only a database of those who’ve found homes. Sterilized, registered, protected. No uncontrolled breeding, no pain. There should be no hungry, sick, or euthanized animals on the streets. That’s not care — that’s neglect disguised as policy.
